Maori Spam: The Coming

Subject: Ngā haere mai ia
Body: Ka tae mai te rewera i roto i tau moe po. E kore e te Atua tiaki i tou wairua, kua atawhai ki a ia

Today’s spam submission is quite possibly the creepiest piece of spam I have ever read.

Whoever sent this isn’t selling a product. There’s no website to promote, no links to click. Just a few lines of text written in the Māori language.

From Google Translate:

The Coming
Then came the devil in your sleep tonight. It is not God save your soul, have mercy on him.

So far, nothing comes up on Google, whether you’re searching in English or Maori. If you recognize the quote, or if you can give us a better translation than Google, please send us an email at and give us some insight.
